power scheme

Synopsis

A collection of settings for managing the power consumption of your system.

Description

Windows 2000 Server includes a number of default power schemes, which are listed in Table 3.32. These power schemes determine how long a period of inactivity is required before your monitor and hard disk power down and before your system goes into standby when running on AC power. You can modify these default schemes or create your own schemes (see power scheme).

  • Your system hardware must be able to support power management for power schemes to work.

  • On portables, you can specify one scheme for battery use and another for AC use.
