In the past few months, the installation process of Mono has changed significantly. Back in the early days, it was a big burden to install all the components people normally need to work with Mono. Installing the compiler and the classes that are distributed with Mono used to be particularly complicated. But since then, setting up the system has become very easy.

Currently, Mono can be used on Linux as well as Windows systems on x86 CPUs.
