CREATING LINKS TO OTHER PAGES ON THE WEBSITE

Unfortunately, linking to another page on the website using TinyMCE is more difficult than it should be. In Lesson 27 I'll cover a different editor, called JCE, which makes the process significantly easier.

To start, open the website's front end in another tab, and browse to the page to which you wish to link. I've added a sentence to the About Us article, talking about kindergarten enrollments. I'd like to link to the full information about kindergarten enrollment, so I go to the home page and then click the Read More link for the kindergarten article. I copy the URL at the top of the page, which for me looks like this: http://tofino.directrouter.com/~joomla24/component/content/article/21-enroll/22-enrolling-in-kindergarten.

Your URL may look very different if you're working with a different web host, or if search-engine-friendly URLs were not turned on for your site in the installation process. If search-engine-friendly URLs were not turned on for my site, my URL would look like this: http://tofino.directrouter.com/~joomla24/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22:enrolling-in-kindergarten&catid=21:enroll.

Now that you've copied your URL, in the back end of Joomla, edit the About Fictitious Elementary School article. Highlight the words you want to become the clickable link, and then click the link icon, shown highlighted in Figure 11-6. (The link icon is roughly in the middle of the second row of tools.)
