Name

TODAY

Synopsis

Use this function to get the current date. The date value changes only when you open the worksheet, or if you recalculate. Excel gets the date information from your system, so make sure your system clock is accurate.

To Calculate

=TODAY( )

Today has no arguments. To use this function you simply need to type =TODAY( ).

Note

TODAY is used as the argument for another function when determining the current date. A good example of this is in Figure 13-7; TODAY is used with NETWORKDAYS to determine the number of workdays between today and a vacation date.

Example

Although this function actually returns a numeric value (or serial number) Excel automatically formats the value with a date format, as illustrated in Figure 13-11.
