Connecting Your PC to Other Media Devices

As its name implies, Media Center is meant to act as a kind of hub for your home entertainment center. In a basic setup, you connect your computer to your TV and you can then use Media Center to play DVDs or downloaded movies, listen to music, watch digital slide shows, view TV listings, and even record TV programs.

A more space-age approach is to set up a wireless network and add an extender—such as an Xbox 360 game console—that enables you to stream movies, music, tunes, and TV to other devices on the network, even if they reside in another room or floor of your house. Beyond that, you can also connect speakers, a video projector, game controllers, and more, as shown in Figure 10.3.
