Searching the Web for Error Messages or Notifications

Error messages and notifications are often cryptic or do not provide solutions. If you get an error message you do not understand, copy or write down the text of the message and then search the Web for that text. For example, you get an error message that says “Fatal exception occurred. Program will exit.” You have no idea what it means, but those were the last words you saw on your computer before the program crashed. If you search the Web for those words, you will find web sites and forums that discuss and possibly solve the issue, as shown in Figure 17–48.
