Analogy

Building an analogy “involves accessing and transferring elements from familiar categories in order to use it in the construction of a novel idea.”1 Recent research on analogy shows that using analogies can be a valuable contribution to new product development.2 The application of analogies in solving problems implies the use of similarity and hence is also related to Thematic Thinking. An analogy applies some kind of external relation between several entities to another combination of entities. Analogies can be used to create new themes or new thematic ideas.
