We all love taking pictures — of food, family, and more food. In 2013, more than 500 million photos were uploaded to the Internet daily. Although traditionally these photos have gone to sites like Facebook and Instagram, Twitter is growing as its own unique photo sharing destination.

But rather than displaying just the typical family photos you see on Facebook or the food photos you see on Instagram, Twitter also highlights photos of news stories, industry facts and quotes, interesting events or conferences, and photos that are slightly less personal (which makes sense, given that most people use Twitter publicly). That’s why this chapter is dedicated entirely to what you can do visually on Twitter.
