This appendix describes the TSP team-member roles, and it provides the background you need to take advantage of these roles in guiding and leading your team. It describes why roles are needed and the standard TSP roles. It also suggests ways to help the role managers handle their role responsibilities.

A role is defined as “the rights, obligations, and expected behavior patterns associated with a particular social status” (Random 1983). All the elements of this definition are important.
