Chapter 10. Sharing Resources

From the earliest days of computing, it’s been necessary to be able to share information between computers. After all, users are generally disinterested in creating the same documents and spreadsheets on multiple computers. As a result, the earliest business networks were implemented to facilitate sharing files, folders, and expensive devices—such as laser printers—between users and between departments. The ability to share created major efficiencies while helping companies save money.
