Chapter 4. Administering Active Directory

There is more to managing Active Directory than deploying domain controllers. It’s important for administrators of Windows Server 2012 domains to be familiar with the function and placement of flexible single master roles, read-only domain controllers, and Global Catalog servers. It’s also important for systems administrators to be able to defragment and optimize the Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) database and perform efficient backup and recovery operations.
