Analyze All Objects

Starting with Oracle 10g, the database query optimizer has switched to being entirely cost-based (instead of rule-based, as was the case in Oracle 9i and earlier versions). That means that gathering accurate and up-to-date statistics and histograms has never been more critical than it is now. Whether the focus is your application’s queries, third-party database applications, or even a tool like Toad, obtaining proper statistics is now a high-priority database administrative task. Luckily, Toad offers the Analyze All Objects screen to simplify that duty.

To launch the Analyze All Objects screen, choose Main Menu → Database → Optimize → Analyze All Objects. The screen shown in Figure 9.31 appears.
