F.6 Conclusions

Different design methods have been applied in all three cases in order to achieve the intended results (see Table F.6.1). In all cases, the design demonstration and evaluation play important roles in establishing the new functionality or new way of using a mobility product. Focus on the service design is part of the approach next to the existing design methods. The experience prototyping and design demonstration does play a crucial role, in translating consumer demands into marketable products to create new experiences and interactions.

The existence of multiple fuels sources for mobility is a must in the coming decades. It is necessary to be ready and prepared from design and technology for the co-existence of different energy sources depending on the power and size requirements of different functionalities. Niche and customized vehicles play an important role in fulfilling these various power needs. The gap between public transport and private transport will also be narrowed in the coming years. Para-transit and shared mobility, with strong sustainable motivation, might help to realize the implementation of alternative energy sources into mobility. Consumer's conscious selections will still hold the cue for the particular selection of a vehicle for a particular trip.
