Chapter 5: Resource project considerations

In determining the value of a resource project, and ultimately the value of a resource company, it is important to have an understanding of the major components that make up the project and its financial parameters. Chapters 5 to 7 provide a basic overview of the following issues:

• Exploration. The techniques employed to find a mineral or hydrocarbon prospect. This is followed by sampling procedures to define the grade/quality and size of the resource.

• Reserves. The methodologies used to determine the amount of minerals or hydrocarbons that can be economically recovered, given the sample information and data provided in the exploration program.
