Background Intelligent Transfer Device Settings

The Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) device settings allow you to configure the behavior of BITS. BITS, introduced in Chapter 5, provides bandwidth throttling to control the transfer of packets on the network between ConfigMgr clients and their management points. DP traffic goes through an MP when using BITS. If you enable BITS, there are several options to control its behavior. These include providing start and stop times for a throttling window, allowing BITS downloads outside a defined throttling window, and maximum transfer rate during and outside the throttling window. Figure 9.25 shows the default options for BITS settings.
