Chi-Squared Test Value of a Sample Sigma s Versus a Population Sigma S of Variables Data

n = sample size

s = sample sigma

S = population sigma

We compare the calculated Chit2 results with the values in the following simplified chi-squared distribution table (Figure 12-1). If the Chit2 test value we calculated is less than the table low value or greater than the table high value, we are 95% confident that the sample sigma s is different from the sigma S of the population.
