Searching for Documents

If searching is enabled for your SharePoint server, a Search box appears in the upper-right corner of each home page, as shown in Figure 5-6.

When you enter a search term, SharePoint searches the current site and displays the documents and lists that contain that term. The search can look inside Office documents and other file types that implement search filters for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. SQL includes the filters for Word and Excel documents, but other document types, such as Adobe PDF files, must be installed separately.
