Users and Groups in Operating Systems

The SAP installation will create two main users for the operation of the Oracle Database and the SAP system. Table 20-9 lists the two operating system–level user accounts with the correct group. The <SID>adm account must be used to start up and shut down SAP systems. The ora<SID> account must be used for any Oracle Database operation.
