Part III. Reaching Out

Part II described the ways in which REALbasic interacts with the user. But REALbasic also knows how to reach out beyond the interface world of the screen, the keyboard, and the mouse, into a multitude of places and spaces. It can meddle with the clipboard; it can read and write files; it can make sounds and show QuickTime movies; it can print; it can communicate with other applications by means of Apple events; it can even operate as a client or server over the Internet.

Part III is about these and similar features of REALbasic. In other words, it’s about all the miscellaneous stuff that wasn’t covered in previous parts of the book! Finally, the last chapter discusses how to extend REALbasic’s reach still further, by giving it new commands and letting it call the Toolbox directly.
