An essential part of understanding Extreme Programming involves learning the jargon. This can be a rather daunting task because the XP community seems to have its own rules for making up words to represent many core ideas.
Ward Cunningham's Wiki Web software has a lot to answer for [Leuf, 2001]. By enabling collaborative writing on the Web, it provided a mechanism for Extreme Programming ideas to be both refined and publicized.
