Appendix A. Microsoft SQL Server Best Practice Policies

SQL Server 2008 ships with a number of "best practice" policies. These are policies created by Microsoft, ready for you to use. It's worth reviewing them, to see whether any of them apply to your environment.

Don't implement best practice policies blindly. They aren't absolute rules. Think of them more as strong suggestions. They are policies that tend to be useful, but you should carefully evaluate any policy before enabling it, to ensure that it's really a good fit in your environment.

This appendix contains descriptions of the best practice policies, as well as information about the conditions and facets used by these policies.
