Get the Identity of the Metadata Service Application
Scenario/Problem: You need to find the identity of the Metadata Service Application.
Solution: Use the Get-SPServiceApplication cmdlet.
To get a specific instance of a metadata service application, you need the identity of the service application. The Get-SPMetadataServiceApplication cmdlet requires an Identity parameter and, therefore, does not display all instances. Therefore, you need to use the Get-SPServiceApplication cmdlet to display all service applications and find the Managed Metadata Service. Listing 17.1 shows the command line without any parameters.
