Knowing What a Product Isn’t

Specialist products are what the teams are producing; they’re usually physical things. You may be tested in the Practitioner exam on what products are and aren’t. You’ll find more on this in Chapter 14, but in short, if you’re presented with a diagram or a list of products which ‘may contain errors’, then be on the lookout for non-products such as:

check.png Activities: Watch out for any verbs in the product names

check.png Sources of supply: Where the product has come from, notably when it’s from outside the project, rather than what the product actually is

check.png Resources: Particularly people rather than the products which those people are generating, but resources can be financial resources too
