5.8 WHAT CAN A CHANGE AGENT CHANGE?

Just as a French proverb tells us to “try and make that place beautiful wherever you live”, change agents also make the working environment employee-friendly, so that change can be successful and sustainable.

To do so, what can a change agent change? The options essentially fall into five categories: structure, technology, physical setting, work place, and people (Fig. 5.9). Changing structure involves making an alteration in authority relations, co-ordination mechanisms, job redesign, or similar structural variables.
