Hiding Your Browsing from Others

To guard your privacy from others, lock your Macintosh away. If that’s not possible, create separate accounts (see Chapter 19) to isolate your information from other users. Next, clear Safari’s history and cache (see Clearing Your Internet Tracks in Clearing Your Internet Tracks). Once you’ve done all that, turn on Private Browsing to keep Safari from saving your browsing history.

Here’s how to turn on Private Browsing:

  1. Start Safari. The Safari window appears.

  2. Select SafariPrivate Browsing. A dialog appears, asking if you want to turn on Private Browsing.
