Understanding the Finder
The Finder lets you view the contents of one folder at a time. The left pane of the Finder window contains the sidebar, which lists four categories, as shown in Figure 7-2:
Devices Lists all storage devices attached to your Macintosh, such as hard disks, flash drives, or CDs/DVDs
Shared Lists all computers connected to the network; if your Macintosh isn't connected to a network, the Shared category will not appear
Places Lists commonly used folders, such as Applications and Documents
Search For Lists all files that you used on your Macintosh at a particular time, such as today, yesterday, or last week
