Buying Music Online

As you might guess, there are many options for buying music online. If you don't already have a favorite store (such as Walmart, eMusic, or Amazon), you can search the web for Where to purchase MP3s. Make sure, if you're new to purchasing, buying, and downloading media, that you choose a well-known and trusted source.

One thing to consider when deciding on a place to purchase MP3s is whether an app exists to help you. Without an app or some other automated delivery method, you may have trouble downloading or transferring what you buy. (Or you'll at least have to work a little harder to do it.) Because an app makes life so much easier, I've opted to introduce Amazon as one way to obtain MP3s for your Xoom. Amazon offers an app, and purchases you make are downloaded automatically to your Xoom. This requires no intermediary step, such as purchasing and downloading music to your computer and then transferring that data to your Xoom.

AMAZON MP3

Amazon sells MP3s. To buy them, you need an Amazon account and the Amazon MP3 app, available from the Market. Prices for songs are reasonable, and they can be easily downloaded to your Xoom. There are millions of songs available, all accessible from an easy-to-use interface. Figure 7-17 shows the interface from the Amazon MP3 app you need to acquire. Note that this is the U.S. version, so what you see outside the U.S. may differ.
