What Are We Sharing?

Even with tools like Simple File Sharing and the File Sharing Wizard, many users had problems with the idea of folder sharing in Windows. Most home users only want to share photos, music, videos, and the occasional document. The idea of sharing a folder and then putting stuff into the shared folder perhaps doesn’t make sense to most folks. People want to share music, in other words, not a folder that stores music.

Most users also want to control the amount of access other people have. Bob, for example, might want to share his music with other users on the network but not share his photos. Simple File Sharing lacked this level of control. Figure 6-11 shows this typical quandary.
