Configuring MSE for Your System

Once you have MSE installed, you can now configure it for your computer system. While the program’s default configuration is fine for most users, you may have specific needs that require a bit of tweaking.

Setting Up Automatic Scanning

While MSE performs real-time scanning on all new files you introduce to your system, it’s still a good idea to periodically scan your entire computer system for any malware that might already be installed. You can opt to schedule scans once a day or once a week, at the time you specify.

To set up automatic scanning for your system, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Settings tab.
  2. Select Scheduled Scan from the tasks pane on the left, as shown in Figure 4.
