Internet access, particularly the Web, has become ubiquitous in the past several years—at work, at home, and even on the road.

Whenever you point your browser to a Web address, the browser retrieves the proper page from a Web server and displays it for you. Web servers run software that allows them to store, retrieve, and even modify all the pages and graphics that make up a Web site. Internet Information Server (IIS) is Web server software that comes with Windows XP Professional.
