Data Types
SQL Server 2008 has an extensive list of data types to choose from, including some that are new to SQL Server 2008. New data types include date, time, datetime2, datetimeoffset, filestream, and geometry. Each data type is geared toward a specific type of data that will be stored in the column. Table 24.1 provides a complete list of the data types available in SQL Server 2008.
