Deprecated Site Directory in SharePoint Server 2010
The Site Directory site template was one of the site templates available in the SharePoint Server 2007 SharePoint Portal Server site collection template, and it is a deprecated site template in SharePoint Server 2010 although it is included for upgrade purposes. Upgraded SharePoint Server 2007 site directories continue to function in SharePoint Server 2010, although new SharePoint Server 2010 deployments are intended to use new out-of-the-box social governance and discovery features, including content tagging.
