Setting the Site’s Home Page
You can use the Make Homepage command in the ribbon, shown in a Web part page in Figure 5.61, to easily set any page within a SharePoint 2010 site as the home, or default, page of the site.

The same command is available in Wiki and publishing pages also (see Figure 5.62). In addition to the Make Homepage command, SharePoint Server 2010 publishing sites also include a Welcome page option, which is an alternative for defining the default (home) publishing page for a site.
