The organization of subsites might be dictated by existing departmental function, as shown in Figure 2.5, which shows an example of a single site collection. The root site of the site collection is denoted by the entry http://sharepointrus. The tier of sites directly below the http://sharepointrus site, including Finance, Sales, Marketing, HR, IT, and R&D are typically referred to as top-level (subsites) sites.
