Key 2010 Functional Areas

SharePoint 2010 includes many features, far too many to simply categorize by a single definition. The collaborative features of the product alone comprise several feature subsets, such as social networking and content ratings.

To help realize the extent of the product, Microsoft has categorized product features into six logical component areas, as shown in Table 1.1, which shows a breakdown of features in SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Foundation 2010.
