Chapter 5. Receiving and Reading E-Mail

To receive e-mail messages that have been sent to you, Microsoft Outlook 2010 connects to an e-mail server on which messages are stored (such as servers located on a local area network or the Internet) and downloads the messages (or copies of them) to your Inbox folder. From there, you can read a message, reply, forward it to someone, flag it for later action, and open file attachments. In most cases, messages that you download are deleted from the server automatically after they’re downloaded.
