Creating a convincing head of hair is difficult to do. With the hundreds of different styles and techniques available to the hair stylist, just figuring out how a style was created is daunting.

The first step in creating digital hair is determining what the hair should look like. Jack will have what is commonly referred to as a shag cut: a multilayered cut with a disheveled appearance. An example and the reference for Jack's hair is shown in Figure 3.9.
