Make Things Happen at Login

Ever wanted your extra-special copy of Monty Python’s Life of Brian to start playing every time you log in? Sure, you could try to create an AppleScript to launch it at login, but that’s a lot of work. Like most things, there’s an easy way out.

If you hold down the Option key prior to selecting any of the pop-up menus on this pane, you’ll get an extra Options menu item at the bottom of the menu, as seen in Figure 5-8. Select it, and you’ll see a checkbox for “Perform action at login.” Check the box, click OK, and now your logins will conclude with the launching of your favorite DVD (or audio CD or picture CD).
