Applicability
The recommendations outlined in this chapter and in Chapter 6 are by no means specific to software upgrades. Any network with high availability requirements should follow a similar planning, execution, and verification pattern for every network change. As we mentioned earlier in the chapter, following a network change, begin at the Physical layer on the device that has been upgraded and expand upward through the OSI model and outward through the rest of the network.
