Build the categories for the website you're planning and creating, or build the categories for the Fictitious Elementary School website.

Lesson Requirements

You'll need the list of categories you established in Lesson 6, in Table 6-1, and access to your Joomla installation.

If you're building the Fictitious Elementary School website, the categories you need to create are as follows:

  • About section: About, History, Mission, Faculty
  • Classes section: First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Music, Art, Physical Education
  • Calendar section: Calendar
  • Latest section: 2010
  • Notices section: 2010
  • Menus section: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Photos section: First Day of School
  • Resources section: Resources
  • Volunteer section: Volunteer
  • Enroll section: Enroll
  • Transfers section: Transfers
  • Contact Us section: Contact

  3. In some cases, the section name and the category name are the same. Typically, this is done when you have some overview information that doesn't fit the other categories (as in About), or if it is the only category associated with a particular section (as in Volunteers). ...
