Chapter 7.Configuring Inter-Pod Connectivity
This chapter focuses on connecting two pods via a T1 connection as well as a serial port connection. T1 connectivity simulates connectivity between two different companies. A serial connection is more indicative of connectivity between two sites of the same company. Lab 7-2 introduces the idea of class of restriction (COR).
Digit Manipulation
Phone digits sometimes need to be translated or manipulated to create communication between different sites. Reasons for digit manipulation include the following:
• Allow Cisco IP Phone users to call each other by simply dialing an extension number
• Allow IP Phone users to access the public switched telephone network (PSTN)
