Simple Multicast Traffic

Figure 4.15 shows a simple UDP datagram sent to the multicast address 233.1.1.1. There isn’t anything else about this datagram that would indicate that it contains multicast data.

The application used to generate the packet shown in Figure 4.15 is a sample application called party.exe , available from Microsoft’s public FTP server. Many such applications exist for a wide variety of platforms.
