Working with 3D Boolean Operations

Much of the power of solid modeling comes from the ability to use Boolean operations as modeling tools. In Chapter 28, “Drawing in 3D in AutoCAD,” you were introduced to Boolean operations while working with regions. These same Boolean commands work at the 3D level to enable you to quickly and easily create complex objects from simple primitives.

There are three Boolean types that you can create: Union, Intersect, and Subtract. Figure 30.13 shows two primitives and the object that results when you apply each of the three Boolean operations to the primitives.
