1.10. Final Thoughts

The concepts here are valid regardless of what your domain is running. It doesn't matter if you have a pure or mixed Active Directory domain with Windows 2000, Windows 2003, or Windows Server 2008 Domain Controllers. The point is that to make the best use of Group Policy, you'll need an Active Directory.

You'll also need a Vista management station to do the work. Again, we talk more about why you need a Windows Vista management station in Chapters 3, 7, and 10.

I know it's a little confusing to hear that the GPMC is built into Windows Vista only to be taken away with Windows Vista + SP1. But don't worry; you can grab it again from Microsoft within the RSAT tools in a jiffy.
