Trading online: So how do you actually buy or sell online?

I’ll use Charles Stanley’s Fastrade web system to illustrate. Figure 7.20 shows that you have £7,231.80 in your account at Charles Stanley to buy shares – you are called Mr Fastrade on this account.

First click whether you want to buy or sell. Then put in the code for the shares – in this case Game, the computer games retailer with the code GMG.L. Now input how many shares you want to buy and whether you would like an ‘at market order’ or you would like to put an upper limit on the price – see Chapter 4 to understand these orders. Finally, enter your personal secret PIN number and click ‘OK’.
