Synopsis

Use TAN to determine the tangent of an angle expressed in radians. In order to use this function the size of the angle must be in radians. You can convert degrees to radians by multiplying by PI()/180.

To Calculate

=TAN(Number)

This required argument must specify the radian measurement of the angle for which you want to determine the tangent.

Example

Figure 14-2 illustrates how TAN is used to determine the tangent for an angle as long as you know the radian value. For this example, we used RADIANS to determine the radian measurement for a 50 degree angle.
