Name

ACOS

Synopsis

Use ACOS to determine the arccosine of a number. The arccosine is the inverse of the cosine. The result of the function is expressed in radians.

To Calculate

=ACOS(Number)
Number

This required argument must specify a number between -1 and 1 that indicates the cosine value.

Converting Between Radians and Degrees

You can convert the result of the function from radians to degrees by multiplying the result by 180/π.

Example

Figure 14-2 illustrates how ACOS is used to determine the arccosine for an angle based on the cosine value. You will notice the arccosine amount is equal to the radian measurement of the angle.
