Name

DOLLARDE

Synopsis

DOLLARDE (an Analysis ToolPak function) allows you to convert a fractional dollar amount to a decimal amount. You can use this function to convert the price of a security, typically represented as a fractional amount, to a decimal amount that can be used for other calculations.

To Calculate

=DOLLARDE(Fractional_Dollar, Fraction)

Both of the arguments are required for this function.

Fractional_Dollar

A decimal value that indicates the whole number and numerator value (top value of the fraction). For example, if the fractional dollar amount is 1 the value of this argument will be 1.1.

Fraction

Indicates the denominator of the fraction. If the fraction is 1/2 the value of this argument is 2.

Example

As indicated earlier in this chapter, DOLLARDE works to convert a fractional amount into a decimal amount. Figure 12-7 illustrates how DOLLARDE can be used to convert a fraction into a decimal amount.

Note

When you type a fractional amount in a cell, Excel automatically stores the value as a decimal value.
