4.10. IN CONCLUSION ...

4.10.1. Summary

  • There is more to a successful course than lessons. A successful course requires a superstructure of Web pages and forms so that learners can:

Learn about the course, what it offers, and what it requires

    Register for the course

    Navigate and search the course

Keep up with changes to the course

Contact fellow learners, the instructor, or other course staff

    Receive congratulations and a diploma

  • Many of these "shell" elements are provided by course-delivery systems.

  • Once you have created a course shell containing these elements, you can share them among multiple courses. Such framework elements are good candidates for templates.

4.10.2. For more...

Now that you have the course framework, why not fill it with lessons (Chapter 5), activities (Chapter 6), tests (Chapter 7), and other content?

Before you start handcrafting a course framework, you may want to examine the ones provided by vendors of integrated course management and delivery systems, such as TopClass and Docent.
