2.6. Explain the vulnerabilities and mitigations associated with various transmission media.
Transmission media is any cable or radio transmission that is used to carry signals between a sender and a receiver. Unfortunately, outsiders, unauthorized users, or even hackers may want to intercept and eavesdrop on your communications. Depending upon the transmission media itself, this may be a difficult or easy task. The following sections discuss issues related to copper- and fiber optic–based media. For information on wireless media, please see section 2.7 later in this chapter.
